The Watergate Scandal involved the illegal break-in of the Democratic National Committee on June 17, 1972. Its cover up by Richard Nixon led to his resignation and a major change in the way the presidency was viewed in the United States.
What was so significant about the Watergate Scandal? Discuss how, today, Americans look at controversies in its leadership. What other presidential scandals have occurred since Nixon and Watergate?
