National Presidential Joke Day
Ronald Reagan is widely credited as being one of the best communicators ever to sit in the White House. His background in movies and speaking, and his great sense of humor reached people in interesting ways. In particular, he liked to tell jokes.
On August 11, 1984, Ronald Reagan was doing a sound test, when, not knowing he was being recorded, he said into the microphone:
Watch: We Begin Bombing in 5 minutes
“My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.”
Whether you thought that was funny depended a lot on the times, and your views on Reagan. But he was a master at telling jokes. Here is a great collection of Reagan telling “Russia” jokes.
